Green Christmas Teddy Bear by Steiff - 34cm

Steiff

Catalogue number: 006036

In 1919, following post-war shortages of mohair and wool, Steiff began to create bears from alternative materials. Steiff's Teddies for Tomorrow series pays homage to these bears that were inadvertently created from more eco-friendly and sustainable materials following these shortages. Following in the footsteps of his predecessors in this series made from paper, hemp and bamboo fabrics, this handsome green paper Christmas teddy bear is the first festive addition to this collection. Crafted from a long pile forest green paper plush fabric inspired by the pine needles of the fir trees decorated at Christmas, this exquisite bear has striking two tone golden eyes and is filled with stuffing made from recycled PET plastic bottles. His feet are made from a festive tartan fabric and he proudly wears a distinguished polished brass motif chest tag.

Building on the heritage of bears made like this over 100 years ago, the green paper Christmas bear boasts the distinctive design qualities of a traditional Steiff bear, as well as a modern, ethical and eco-friendly attitude to production.

Limited to only 2,020 pieces, he comes with his numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with its original protective cardboard outer sleeve.
